So many people use it from teachers to pastors to presidents. Many of us just assume that it just a certain type of person who uses it and it could be your neighbor. Alcohol is legal and it has a more dangerous effect on your mental capability and motor functions while under the influence. Many think that marajuana is not legal because the government has not yet figured out a way to tax and control it. There has been talk about making it legal in some states. What do you all think about the issue?

I'm not a pot smoker, but I AM all for it being legal.

It just helps too many people to deny it.

It also feels really mellow and good.

I would smoke it if it were legal.

my opinion is legalize it. alcohal is just as bad or worse. And geewhiz in vancouver and other cities there is places where one can go get clean needles to shoot up stronger drugs. and look at all the meth problems put the police that are wasting their time going after marijuana after the meth problem. If the government could figuere out a way to sell it like tabaco and tax the crap out of it they could make a killing. But how are they going to do that when so many people can grow it in their house or back yards.,for their own use if it is legal. we do it know even though it is illigal so in the end the government makes no money so why would they legalize it.

that is basically the problem the government has no control over it and has no way of taxing it. unlike tobacoo not everyone can grow it you have to know how to dry it and cure it. Tobacoo will not burn on its own unlike pot which will burn really well. So with anyone being able to grow pot you would have people still running it illeagle and the gov still wouldn't get its money. Alaska has legalized pot for your own use in your own home or property.

It should be legal but the prison system (which is half owned by the Bush family) makes more money when there are more people in them, so in this line of thinking it's better if there are more ridiculous laws to keep people in prisons, dontcha think?

This depends on the level of personal responsibility that people are willing to take upon themselves. At the current level of responsibility, we shouldn't be allowed to have caffeine, let alone alcohol, tobacco, or firearms. However, when we're willing to take upon a greater level of personal responsibility and accept the consequences of our actions to a greater extent, then marijuana is certainly more reasonable to be legal than certain other legalized drugs such as tobacco or painkillers. On the other hand, too many people give marijuana a bad name by idolizing it the same way young teens in hick towns idolize cheap beer. Just because it causes a pleasurable sensation for a little while and dulls the pain of a boring life doesn't mean it's the greatest thing ever invented. So, should marijuana be legal? Yes, but many people who would take advantage of that should be smacked for being an idiot.

Yes, legalize marijuana and prostitution. Taxed and regulated. And let's put that money towards education, poverty, and medical (aids & cancer) research, K?
