Could be a bad memory chip. Could also be a compatibility issue with the motherboard, or it could be that you've exceeded the maximum amount the motherboard can handle. Use "MemTest86" which you can Google and download for free; test each memory stick individually. If one stick is bad then replace it. If they're both good then it's most likely the motherboard. I say most likely because it could also be a hardware incompatibility which is basically a component (motherboard included) but in this example the graphics card.... - both memory and graphics card may be good but they just don't like each other (for lack of a better term). You have some troubleshooting to do and I hope this helps.

Maybe it's not compatible with your computer. This is more likely if your computer is older than a few years. Check to see the specifications of both, and see if there's any differences that might affect the performance of the computer.

Probably got the wrong type of memory. If you got it at a Best Buy or Office Max take it back and and in your old memory stick and they would beable to match you up with the right one.

Sounds like bad memory perhaps. What kind of memory? What operating system? More info man it's hard to diagnose an injury if all you do is say it hurts.

1: It could be the wrong kind of memory
2: It could be not seated correctly
3: It could be that your mothernoard allows only certain configurations of memory
4: It could be your memory is indeed bad
Try removing the RAM module that DOES work and ONLY put in your New RAM to see if it works
