I have a cat who constantly loves to sit on my belly and put his head on my shoulder, it's like his little perch. I am 35 weeks and sometimes when he sits there it feels like he is going to push the baby right out of me. It is just really uncomfortable sometimes, but I want to still be able to cuddle with my kitty. Yes I am one of those pet people. Does anyone know if it is bad to let him sit there or am I just worrying too much for the like the 100th time in this pregnancy?

Unless your doctor has told you that pressure on your uterus could cause problems, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Until you start to dialate, your baby is completely fine under pressure and could not be pushed out. If you're already dialated though, pressure on the uterus is usally not good. Your doctor will tell you, though, at your routine checkups if you are at all dialated and your kitty can sit there as long as it is tolerable by you.

This is a question for your doctor, dear, but I don't think you have a real worry. You do know to avoid changing the litter during pregancy, right? And there are old wives tales about cats trying to steal a baby's breath, but more likely, a cat is only smelling the sweet formula or milk on the baby's breath. I might keep kitty out of the baby's room at night to be on the safe side. On a practical note, I think I might put the kitty on a pillow beside me where I could stroke and pet him without putting him on my tummy, especially if it's uncomfortable. Get a good answer from your doctor, but don't worry so much about anything during your pregnancy. Stress is bad anytime!

The baby is in a really strong bubble... don't worry about it. The only thing to worry about with a cat and pregnancy is cleaning the litter box. There is a bacteria in cat poo that is toxic to pregnant women. Cant for the life of me remeber what its called though. Sorry :(

I too have a cut little kitty who loves to sit on my belly. As long as it does not hurt you, you are fine. What I usually do is I put her a little higher so that she is half on my shoulder and my boobs. I am quit sure that it will all be fine.

Don't worry. When my mom was pregnant with my sister and then a few years later with me, she had this cat named alex and he used to love to sit on my mom, lick her belly, and rub his head on her stomache. Once we were both born the cat would lay with us like he were protecting us. Congrats on your baby!

my question is how big is ur kitty. cuz if its just a kitten sized cat, like tiny tiny, less than 5 lbs cat. it wont hurt the baby but he/she might try to kick ur cat off lol. but if its a big cat, dont let it cuz it might be a little stressful for the baby.

My kitties always sat on my belly when I was pregnant, and they are big boys! One weighs about 15 pounds. You are fine, enjoy the quiet time while you can! Good luck and enjoy!

Unnecessary worries. Give the cat some love and attention all you want, because your time is about to get real limited! Congratulations!

i know that you love your cat, but if it feels uncomfortable, maybe it's best to wait until after the birth. try to lay down on your side, and let the cat curl up against you. make sure that you aren't touching his litter box! can be very poisonous to pregnant women.

It cant be any worse than laying on your side with pressure on your belly. I dont know about you, but I lay kinda on my belly and side. So if you do this too, then that would be more weight on your belly. But if it is unconfortable then it is up to you if you want to put up with it. I dont think it is harmfull though.
