Oh, you have a Pekingese. They look as though they are near sighted and have plowed right into the rear of a parked vehicle. Dogs that chase parked cars aren't going to get run over. I guess you never have to worry about him running 'flat out like a lizard drinking.' Put a harness on him, not a collar, they don't like going for walks, but they also tend to gain weight. You don't want a lap dog you end up renaming 'Crusher!'

Take him for a walk every day. Make sure he does not have an injured hip or shoulder that is slowing him down. Some breeds just like to snooze a lot. Give him an improved diet. You can get bottled doggie gravy that has vitamins and nutrients in it to pep him up a bit. Teach him a new trick every week. This will keep his mind active as well as his body. I guess I don't have to tell you that I own a little maniac, a Pug. Best of luck to you and poochie.

It must start as a scheduled thing...every day take the time to walk your dog. Walking your dog is such a great way for exercise for the both of you and for you to establish yourself as the Alpha for the two of you...set aside a few minutes everyday to play with your dog....that's right get down on the rug and play.
I am an older ill woman and my dog is the epitome of lazy so I have to make sure she MOVES sometimes! Good Luck!
