Globalisation creates certain jobs in America, and costs us others.

Specifically? Can i just name a couple? This answer would be a 10,000 word report otherwise.

Gains: Transportation jobs, railroads, airlines, trucking industry via increased trade in both directions. Farm workers, as our farm products are exported tariff free, or with low tariffs. Raw material exports, coal, steel, iron, etc.

Lose: Manufacturing jobs, as it is cheaper to put a t.v. or computer together in India or China.

There are thousands each way.

But you know what, hippy? I'm with you, I think. Overall, globalisation has been a really bad thing for Americans. Clinton's signing of NAFTA has hurt our manufacturing capacity, and lost hundreds of thousands of American workers jobs. Good, middle-class jobs.

We can't all be computer engineers, farmers, or coal minors.

The wealth is flowing out, more than in, as I see it. I think our total trade imbalance backs me up quite nicely on that point.

Aside: I watched a show the other night that said only one T.V. manufacturer still exists within the United States. Sad.

No. Jobs are being lost all the time to cheap labor over seas. Our government supports capitalism. U.S. companies can make more money by out sourcing to cheaper labor in India and Philippines.

No, it's creating good jobs for the Chinese and Mexicans. Look at it like this. The gov't supports it so much because it promotes competition. Let's take Wal-Mart for example. Everyone likes to save money. How? Wal-Mart is the biggest importer of Chinese goods, where they practically work for nothing. The problem is the money we save shopping at Wal-Mart, we're eliminating our own jobs because we can't compete. It's impossible to maintain the quality of life we have by shopping Wal-Mart.

Yes. We has seen a steady increase in information and services jobs as our economy moves from product based to intellegence based.

In other words. Start using your head and you'll be fine.
