The official Presidents of Texas were:
- 1836 David G. Burnet (interim President)
- 1836-1838 Sam Houston
- 1838-1841 Mirabeau B. Lamar
- 1841-1844 Sam Houston
- 1844-1845 Anson Jones
If you count Burnet (many don't), then Lamar was 3rd President. If not, then either Houston (if you count Presidential terms) or Jones (if you count different people) was the 3rd.
