Would it be a good idea to work for someone in that field so I can learn the ins and outs? I don't have any experience, I just know that Im a caring person and work well with the elderly.

Yes! Get some hands on experience first. Not only will you be more confident with your business later on, you will also need this experience. Look at it this way--would you hire someone you did not know and had no experience with elderly care just by the say-so of the person that he is a caring individual? People look into the backgrounds of a person before they hire them to take care of their elderly relatives. The more references and experience you have, the more likely you are to be the one chosen to be hired.

You could probably start an errand sort of business where you cook for them or clean or do errands or walk their pets etc. But you would need TONS of insurance and certifications to do anything that involved lifting or mobiling them or things like that. I would HIGHLY recommend you work in a nursing home for a while. As a matter of fact I would love to hear it. My dad was in one briefly before he died. The caring people there made me wish more places were like that. Those people DEPEND on the kindness and care of the staff. Thanks for being that kind of a person. The world needs more of you.
