i want to a send text message but i dont want the people that get the message to get my number

Go to the carrier's website and they give you the option to leave your contact information. Trust me I do it all the time. ;)

It can't be done..im assuming to protect people from getting harassed with blocked text messages. You can try the whole *67 thing but I doubt it'll work.

i dont think thats possible... even if your number is blocked when you call someone.. it'll show the number when you send the text... unless... actually.. i think if you go to the service provider's website (cingular, sprint,etc etc).. some of them allow you to send a message to their user from there. you might want to check that out

hmm try and see if the *67 works but message your friend or someone to test it first.. but other than that i dont think you can do that.
