I took a generic, at-home pregnancy test and the second line (indicating a 'positive' result) was Extremly light, almost unnoticeable. So, my questions are how accurate are these tests? Does the darkness or lightness of the 'positive' line matter? And, should I go ahead and test again?
I would like to know as soon as possible so that my husband and I can discuss our options and make the best decission. Thank you.

Thank you for all of your answers.
I didn't notice a forum on here to discuss the termination of a pregnancy - does one exist? I don't want to upset anyone by posting another question in the wrong forum. Thank you.

So long as you read the test within the suggested time limits, a faint positive is a positive. Period. If you're not sure, wait a day or two, and take a second test first thing in the morning.
I would not recommend asking questions about termination in this section. People can be very nasty and judgmental. You might get a more thoughtful response in women's health.
This web site is really helpful if you need some assistance in making a decision about your pregnancy: http://www.pregnancyoptions.info/
I wish you all the best.

As long as you get a line with in the allotted amount of time then it's a positive. Be sure to check the expiration date though. I got a $1 store the day my period didn't show up and it gave me a very faint positive. Get a digital read out test. Use first morning urine since it's the strongest. However digital test are not as sensitive as the regular line ones. This site can be pretty helpful.

If you are uncertain about your results, definately take another test. It cannot hurt. Usually it doesn't matter how faint the line, but if you read the test after the alotted time (e.g. if the test says read after two minutes, and you read after ten) then sometimes a faint line can show up when the results were different earlier. I would say to go ahead and try another test.

The other 2 ladies are completely right on this! As a mother of 5 little at-home pregnancy tests I can affirm that it doesn't matter how faint the line is! Congratulations!

Just so you know for sure you should go ahead and do another test. When the positive line show up it is because of a hormone in your system, that can only show up when you are pregnant. When I found out I used a off brand at first. Then I went out and bought two of the EPT test. The first one was lite so I could not tell,But the other two made it very clear.Nine months later came my daughter.Best wishes to ya!!!!!!!!!!!

A positive is a positive is a positive!
A faint positive is usually b/c you tested a bit early. Tests taken a day or more later should be darker.
Test again w/ first morning urine if it it'll put your mind at rest.

With my 2nd girl, the line was really light for all 3 of the generic tests! Believe me, it works!
You should depend on it and get a blood test tomorrow!
