Personally, you should bring slippers, comfortable night clothes, something to do like reading material or something along those lines. Clothes for the baby to wear while in the hospital and a bring home outfit, carseat (which you can leave in the car) make sure you pack socks for baby. Um and snacks for you, bc hospital food is never enough. And honestly that is pretty much it. Oh and toiletry items and such is also a good idea. Congratulations

I made the mistake with the big list the last time and never again. Remember you will have to lug the bag around at some stage so try to pack light (your partner can pick up anything you need after the birth). I'm due in 4 weeks time and this is what I'm going to take:
1. Heat pack (wouldn't do without this)
2. Toiletries
3. Change of clothes for after birth and nightgown.
4. CDs, music etc.
5. Book to read (for after if you are too excited and can't sleep)
6. Maternity pads/ breast pads (can get your partner to bring if you forget).
7. Older underwear (not brand new).

I found eating during labour down-right sickening so I wouldn't bother with that. Don't worry about forgetting stuff as you can always get it later.

I have a two year old. So let me see if I can remember what we packed. You will need all of your toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush...the items you use everyday. You may want to pack a pair of PJ's and slippers to wear around the hospital and a set of clothes you wore when you were five months pregnant to wear home. If you have a going home outfit for your little one(s) you will want to pack it of course. The hospital may supply you with some diapers, a hospital gown, and something that resembles underwear (I didn't have to worry about throwing out any underwear) you may want to call the hospital if you are concerned. If you plan to breast feed - a nursing bra. And of course a camera to catch all of the first moments AFTER your bundle of joy has arrived. I would not worry about bringing reading material for yourself all I wanted to do was either sleep or interact with my wonderful newborn. Your partner may want to pack a few things for himself/herself like a few snacks, change for a vending machine and a calling card for any long distant calls to spread the good news. If you live close to the hospital and your partner plans to go home once or twice before you go home, they can pick up whatever else you may need.
I hope this helps. Congratulations.

Congrats !! I never went by the list it was so much stuff. Slippers are good. I brought my own robe and big nightgown. Since hospital gowns never cover your butt lol. Toothbrush, hairbrush pony tail holder. Also I brought travel sized shampoo conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, and face wash. I brought makeup but never put it on. You might want to bring 2 sets of baby clothes. Everyone said oh the baby looks small maybe 6 or 7lbs he ended up being 8lbs 4oz. Something comfortable for you to wear home. As for baby items the hospital should provide plenty of diapers for him use whatever they give you and take anything left home.

I'm not a mom yet! but i know that you should pack a outfit for the baby to come home in. You should also include some receiving blankets, socks , booties, and a hat. I think you should also pack some things for you so that you would be comfy, like your own gown, robe and slippers. congratulations on your new baby. I pray that you have a safe and easy delivery, and a healthy baby.CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congrats! I'm due on the 25th too!
My mom told me to bring lots of ugly underwear because you will surely ruin it. Also, slippers are good. A hair brush, ponytail holder, chapstick, are also nice. Comforting things, like a pillow, scented lotion, or calming music are nice.

For the baby you will need
-one package of newborn diapers.
-Baby face cloths to use as wipes (hospitals usually discourage the use of bought wipes until they know of any allergies the baby might have
-two "onesies" undershirts (one to wear home, and a second in case the baby spits up on the first!)
-two going home outfits for baby (see above)
-receiving blankets (4 or 5) for burping.
-warm snowsuit to wear (it is march afterall) or one of those snugli things that the baby can be put into in their car seat).
-Hat for baby
-passifier (newborn size).
-Bottles and nipples (if you are nursing or not- some babies have to have extra nutrition- either expressed breast milk or formula).
-diaper bag
-Car seat- even if you are taking a bus or taxi home. Many hospitals will not let you leave without a car seat.

For yourself, you will need:
-5 pairs of maternity underwear
-2 packages of maternity sanitary pads
-sleep-wear (one or two night shirts for the first little bit after birth- you need to be examined often and do not want to have to take off your PJ bottoms over and over again. Also another pair of pjs for after the first 24 hours). Make sure the tops of the pjs are easily opened if you are nursing.
-nursing pads (if you are nursing or not- you will be leaking).
-2 nursing bras (if you are nursing) or two regular bras if you are not nursing.
-Something to wear home
-slippers (don't want to be walking around the hospital in your socks).
-socks
-flip flops (for the shower)
-toiletries
-pillow with a bright pillowcase (so as to not mix it up with the hospital one)

For your coach/partner/husband

-clothes
-pillow
snacks (so that he/she does not have to wander off while you are in labour to spend a fortune in the vending machine)
