Is "life flooded my veins" an example of personification?

I wasn't sure at first, but then I thought it was, and now I'm not sure again.

It's for a lyric analysis assignment due tomorrow!!

If you can help that would be really nice :)

By the way, the song is "Faust, Midas, and Myself" by Switchfoot.

If a person is saying it, then NO, that is not personification. I looked over the lyrics (I'm a big fan of switchfoot) and the narrator of the song is saying that after his heart beat, "life" (which symbolizes blood or possibly hope) began to course through his veins. I think you may be confusing "life" with personification when it really is symbolism.

In this lyric, life is sybolically enumerates the importance and greatness of blood, the liquid of life. While plain old red and white blood cells normally course through your veins, the narrator is saying that "life," something more meaningful and greater than just a fluid, began flowing through is veins.

If you're not sure, an example of personification would be, "The sun smiled brightly at me."

Not my definition of personification. More a self realization of being alive for the so-called first time. Philosophically speaking, a sad part about the human condition is that many souls die long before their bodies do. For life to flood one's veins to me means self-realization, actualization. An abandon of "persona." Who cares who I am, what matters is I'm alive.

No. "my" means that a person is speaking. You can't personify a person. You can't even personify a corpse. You might be able to personify a severed body part, but I think that's the limit.

If it was something like "life flooded into the house" then you could consider it personification of the house.

I think it would be if there was a example of how life flooded your veins like the how and why... need to be able to back the phrase somehow... anyway that's just my opinion - I don't know if I'm right or not. Sorry

Nope. I know it isnt.I forgot what it was.Because, if it were a personification then it would have said something about doing something like a person.. Get it?Like " the tree waved at me''
