i have a physics project, i want to do it on Lorentz (length) contractions, What should my main points be on?

I have to do an outline first and then a 5-7 page essay. I need strong points, what should they be?

Answer 1

1) What did the ancients (Greeks etc) think about space and time.
2) Was Newton happy with his idea that spacetime was in fact two separate things.
3) European colonisation, overseas trade, navigation (longitude GMT) the moons of Jupiter and the Finite Velocity of Light.
4) The Measurements of the speed of light.
5) Discuss the theories of Aether, permeation of matter and aether drag.
6) That the Lorentz contraction was postulated when the constancy of the speed of light was discovered. (During different times in the earth's orbit)
7) That the contraction occurs as a consequence of the Special Relativity. If you are up for it - show the derivation of contractions in the relativity of SpaceTime.

If easily available read:
Victor Guillemin: The Story of Quantum Mechanics
1st Chapter only - just to get you on the right lines with the Greeks and Newton. Don't go into it too deeply it is just for orientation.
Many other QM and Relativity books do this stuff in the first chapter.
