There is a tank with about 6 red belly pacus, I think their name is, at Wal*mart. They have severe Ick all over them. I wated for nearly an hour for someone to assist me with the fish. I asked them if they were aware that those fish all had Ick. They said yes but they wernt alowed to treat them. Is there any way I can help them? We dont really have money to spend on saving fish but if I did fine a way to get them, I'd only be able to get a 10 gallon tank without a hood on it but I could use my small filter for it. I need to know how I can help FAST! They will, without a doubt, die if I dont help almost immedietly.

I like the idea of a whole lot of people emailing the manager, and even walmart headquarters. Give us info to do so!
Call a newspaper or tv station, too, maybe they will help!

try siccing PETA on them, those guys r always lookin for somethin to do. otherwise, id start calling to fingd the manager at the walmart this is happening at and tell them that u r going to tell everyone u know, n lots more that u dont know, that they r mistreating the fish n animals they sell there. if u can, get all ur friends to call n tell the manager the same thing, especially if they r people that know about fish and that might shop there.i didnt know wha ick was, so i just looked it up ick n found out its a parasite that will lay eggs and it sounds like it is easily curable. u said the people werent allowed to treat them, and im assuming they sell a treatment there, so id make a point of telling the manager that all u ask is that the fish be treated properly to get rid of the ick, explain how to do it, and that they somehow prove they treated them, rather than just flushing them and getting a new batch that would soon b infected. im also thinking the better business beaurau might b interested to know that a large company like this is knowlegably selling diseased animals to the public, with no intention to stop or rectify the situation. just make sure that the manager knows this is happening, cuz maybe its just lazy employees and the manager didnt actually know. one other thing u can do to bring attention to this is get hold of any local groups that might b fish enthusiasts to get them to call n harrass the manager into action. let the manager know all of what u r planning to do if they do not treat the fish, and absolutely do not buy anything from them if they do not fix the situation. so basically, make urself a giant pain in the *** until they do something :)

A product called Rid Ich will cure these fish. Pacu's are scaleless fish so most Ich meds will damage them. I think kordon manufactures it. If your tank is not well established, then moving them will do more harm than good. The spots you see on the fish are actually the eggs of the parasite. It would appear that wall mart has a problem with the system or tank.

I am most interested in why they are not allowed to treat the fish?
The cure is so simple and so inexpensive...

If walmart has some policy that they do not treat thier sick fish, than they should not be allowed to sell fish or any products related to fish.

Any lawerys out there reading this want to look into this?

I 100% agree with getting a massive amount of people involved to stop WalMart's cruelty to their fish. Everytime I'm in there I'm completely appalled at the conditions these poor fish are living in. There is a constant stream of ick, fungus, and other disease flowing through those tanks. From the second those poor fish are delivered to that store, they really don't stand a chance. I know it's upsetting to see, but you can't give in to the tempation to buy these fish with the hopes of taking them home and nursing them all back to health. I think any fish lover who walks in that store feels like doing that exact same thing, but we would simply be doing WalMart a favor. We'd be giving them more business and financially supporting their heinous idea of pet care. The only way these fish will EVER have a chance is if people get involved, and if you decided to put something together, I'd be all for it. Good luck, and don't give in.

Don't try to fix wal marts mistake. Complain to the corporate office about the lack of tank maintenence at the store. Wal mart should not be allowed to sell fish. They make me sick.

DO NOT BUY THOSE FISH. You would be ensuring that more fish are trafficked through the store.
Never buy fish from any place that negelects the care of them. Your money will be funding mistreatment.

Write a letter to the management or get people together to email.

Unless you want to buy them and have them die on you, nothing can be done. Wally World will just let them die or let some sucker buy them.
