During the slavery times, I've read and heard that there were Africans in Africa who sold their own fellow men and women into slavery for profits. Do African-americans of today realize this?

You're partially correct, but you're missing the big picture. People enslave other people; every race has been enslaved before. And races have been enslaved by their own race. So the only people to blame are humans. We do things like that to each other. Slavery in the United States the blame can go both ways; Africans were stolen, and sold. Back then people didn’t think like we do now. They were not concerned about 150 years into the future, and where the slave's race will end up. They were just concerned about what would keep them alive then. Slavery was a franchise, and a monopoly on both sides; African and otherwise.

Sure they realize this. but it's not exactly like you said I don't think. I read a book that was supposed to be "History of Slavery" The way I understand is there has always been wars over African territory. The African people who sold others were like pirates. They stole young strong men and women in the middle of the night but they knew the slave ships were on there way from America. Even on these ships there were people who chose the best stock. Just like cows, and horses. I think if people knew the whole truth some people would be less judgmental. I feel like African- Americans are just now beginning to get what should have been theirs when they were freed. I hope some day everything REALLY can be equal.

Yes. That is a fact of the slave trade. It however was not as prevalent as some would have you to believe. For the most part Africans were hunted like animals and some were tricked into getting within arms reach of the hunters with gifts and friendly manners. The sale of Africans by other African tribes happened, but more often members of tribes who had gotten away from the slave traders would warn other tribes. It seems like this question keeps popping up as a way to justify what happened to people of color. Nothing can justify the slave trade. Scene: a Caucasian woman walks up to you and says she will give you her healthy child for a fee, no nothing is wrong with her or the child, she sales all of her children when she is bored with them, who is more at fault, the woman selling the child or the person that buys the child, only to sell it again for a larger profit? How do you ever justify dealing in human flesh?

LONG before the new world was discovered, African tribes became rich and powerful by raiding other tribes and "nations" for the human wealth. They were transported around the known world at that time.

Later, when the western hemisphere was being colonized, the really large numbers of Blacks were sent here. Whites did not go traipsing through the savannas and jungles of Africa looking for natives to capture. Black people who lived in Africa did that for them. It was a thriving business and built empires of wealth from the proceeds.

More recently as American Blacks have begun to travel to Africa to "seek their roots" they are shocked and horrified to discover this. It is a fact that is trying to be kept as quiet as possible, but there have been a few documentaries on the subject.

Well after slavery legally ended in the USA it continued in the Middle East, perhaps to this day in some areas by some of the very wealthy.

Yup, we sure do. Usually in most tribes they sold their criminals to Arabs long before white people ever dealt in slavery with the Africans. The thing though is this, slavery was a known thing in every society.

it somewhat is actual that Africans bought Africans into slavery. besides the undeniable fact that, there replaced right into a distinction between slavery in Africa and slavery interior the recent international. In Africa, slaves have been nonetheless waiting to communicate their languages and safeguard their cultures. some have been even released back to their households over a volume of time. interior the recent international, slaves have been separated so as that they does not be waiting to maintain their custom or language - hence the reason in the back of lots of the pidgin languages you hear at present. Plus, many circumstances, Europeans might inspire African slave vendors to alter into intoxicated and then mislead slave vendors or outright in simple terms steal slaves on an analogous time as the vendors have been intoxicated. by potential of how.... whilst people ask this question, it rather much looks as though they're attempting to declare that Africans are the only ones that bought their own people. beforehand of the "discovery" of Africa... Greeks bought Greeks Romans bought Romans Spaniards bought Spaniards the biggest's Europeans bought Europeans too. Whites bought Whites. as quickly because it replaced into stumbled on that Europeans ought to the two purchase or steal Africans, there replaced into now not a choose for them to sell their own people. they stumbled on a collection of those that have been bodily extra healthful and conscious of working in strenuous situations. They bought and stole them, bred them, and used them. in simple terms because of fact Africans bought Africans does not make the dehumanization and the compelled disconnection from kin, custom, custom and language that the Europeans inflicted upon them perfect.

Of course it's true. I realize it and I hate it. I hate the Africans who enslaved Africans just as much as I hate the Europeans that enslaved Africans. Both teams were in it for the profit and it's sickening.
