FORBIDDEN LOVE!

In both stories they are not supposed to love eachother, because the parents refuse, but the kids look past that. They don't care about class rank, or the last name of the person, they just care about the person.

They also have the idea of a love that can conquer all things.
In the notebook even after years their love is still alive, and even before they meet again their thoughts of eachother consume them. And in Romeo and Juliet they die because of their love for eachother.

Romeo and Juliet, in similarity to the protagonist lovers in The Notebook, were not meant to be together. Their union was frowned upon. She and Juliet were both promised to other people (namely Paris) while knowing that they loved other people. They also met in secret, without the knowledge of the people they were "supposed" to marry.
