Well the university I go to have a lot of international students, many from Japan and China. So I have learnt alot about how Chinese and Japanese people are different. The languages sound very different, I like the Japanese names, they sound really cool, I have a friend whose name is Hiroshi (sound like that, probably not spelt like that). Ok this is just my opinion, I do not want to offend anyone but just from the people at uni I find Chinese people when they speak english they have a very strong accent, the Japanese accent is not that strong so sometimes I find it easier to understand Japanese people speaking English than Chinese.

Check this out.
1. Out of all the asian population the Japanese have the most sexual dimorphism while the Chinese have the least. The reason is that the early Japanese have an admixture of archaic genes from populations that no longer exist. When you line up the skeletons side by side the Japanese male to female are always very different. The Chinese skeletons in many cases have to be examined closely because the sex is not as obvious as in Japanese skeletal reamains.

There is a world of difference from what I can see. Japanese seem to be much friendlier than Chinese people are for one. I can defiantly tell the two apart by their looks I think Chinese women are beautiful, Japanese women are cute but still prefer Chinese. The culture is very different too, Chinese are communist and Japanese are very more of a Western type govt.

I believe there is a GREAT difference between Japanese and Chinese, but I am Indian. Sure I was born and raised in America, but I have a huge cultural background being Indian. I have met a lot of people that do not know much about the difference between Indian and Pakistani's, and I would compare that to be the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese. I don't speak for everyone in America, but I do find that more times than I would like, a lot of people just categorize Asians into "Orientals"...which I hate that term. That is for food, not for people. So all in all, I think quite a few people with a cultural background know that there is quite a bit of difference, but in all in all, most people just consider Asians, Asians.

There are a lot of differences, but most of us westerners don't really see any unless we really sit down with facts and think about it. I doubt, however, that many people do this. We dont really get the chance to see the wonderful things Japanese and Chinese cultures have to offer unless we visit the countries.

yes, i think the Chinese have a lot to learn about the world, the Japanese have a thirty year leap in that direction, with a good understanding of western culture, but do you think the Chinese will ever accept Japanese values?

my mom (and lots of people in usa) say "pssh same thing"
I think it's because of the rice thing, and how you can't tell which nationality they are just by looking at them sometimes (but i think Japanese have smaller noses for some reason o.O)
well at least I know there are some differences and some things alike (like some of Japanese comes from chinese words and Kanji come from chinese characters). But also there are different cultures, different clothes, different foods, different languages, different attitudes, different economies it's all different.

The two peoples are worlds apart, with history, culture, you name it, the only thing they have in comman ,is that they eat lots of rice. I admire both Chinese and Japanese people. The Japanese impress me with their honesty and good manners. The Chinese because of their cleverness ,and fantastic history, also the cusine. I have been to China, very good what i saw . Not been to Japan, because the country is so very expensive.

China's government is dictative and the people's aggressive(example: China town in the US).
Also the Chinese hates the Japanese, and the Japanese looks down at Chinese. Probably because of war.
There's a couple of people that got their answers wrong.
The Chinese are the ones that refused to modernize in history(they have huge pride in their culture).
The Japanese modernized right away. Once became one of the powerful country, defeating countries like Russia, China, etc.
They're advanced in technologies and profitable in business like cars(Honda for example).
Guys that got their information wrong:
"BryanEMcGolrick"
"antra"
