Angel. Because he is dark, broody, mysterious, compassionate and edgy in a good way. He is a bad boy with the heart of gold. When he loves he does it completely and he always sacrifice himself for Buffy and his friends. Plus, he is so sexy because he has an interesting face. The only downside with Angel is you can't have sex with him because he turn evil. Spike is the fun bad boy.

To go for a drink with and have some fun.... Spike. He's got a wicked contempt for most things, is brutally honest (if vampire) with his thoughts and actions.

Did you see him in the episode he got turned ? He was a young well educated Englishman of society.. but was a bit shy and uncomfortable and awkward in himself.... searching for love and reciting poetry he'd composed in order to win affection of the girl he liked.... and looked down upon by his more confident peers. He was a really nice guy... but being turned brought him more intune with the harsh realities of life. Buffy reawoke some of the pure goodness that was always in him as a full human.

In contrast Angel was a bit of a thickish farmer pretty boy, a labourer type, who was not much of an interesting guy before he got turned.

I always thought Angel was better for Buffy until Spike came into the picture. Angel was a good character but always tried to protect Buffy.Where as Spike stood back and let her do her job. granted in the beginning, he was her job. ( to destroy him) they were better together, more fun. they got to banter trade blows, laugh, i think he understood her better that any of her friends. Spike had some definite issues but in the end he was the better of the two for her. he was able to love her even with the demon inside of him where as angel didn't when he lost his soul.
they were both darn hot though i think i would still pick James Marsters over David Boreanaz or spike over angel. but its a real hard choice

Spike because Angel was to moody. Spike always added some comic relief and he kinda looked like Billy Idol. I loved him when I was a teenager.

i used to think Angel, but after a while i got bored with the 'poor tortured soul' concept, and now i think that Spike is a far more interesting character. he's also got a far better sense of humour. as for looks, well, i'm not that bothered by either of them. i think that Angel is the stereotypical 'good looking male lead'..... and stereotypes don't do much for me personally.... Spike isn't that good looking, but his character / personality makes up for it.
