Yes they do but it is just one of their delusions, they need to come to Michigan where we have lost over 200,000 jobs in the last 6 years.

They say that because the economy really IS doing great - for wealthy Republicans, that is.
It's particularly great for the ones who haven't yet gotten caught toasing their books and gone to jail. The not-so-wealthy Republicans have been manipulated into thinking the economy is good for them too, some by a $600 tax credit, some by unquestioningly believing whatever their leaders tell them.
Capitalism is not a bad thing, it is a marvelous thing... Marvelous, that is, when it's not being manipulated by a corrupt Administration and/or corrupted wealthy Americans not to improve the lives of all Americans, but solely to feed their own rapacious greed at the expense of any citizen who is not strong, wealthy, or sophisticated enough to stand against them.
Question for those Republicans, rich or poor, who think the economy is doing so well: Who's going to pay back the multi-trillion dollar deficit that the Bush administration has run up in their effort to make the economy look good?
Your own kids, maybe? Or doesn't it matter, because it won't be you that has to pay it back? News flash: It will hit us sooner than you think, and even though it will be some other President who has to deal with it, making him or her look bad instead of Bush, history will reflect that it was the Bush administration that did this to us all.

Most people say the economy is doing well now because we have a national 4% unemployment, inflation is at 2.5% (a historic low), and wages are going up at a brisk pace.
I would guess that Republicans believe that as much as anyone, since it is true.
Could it be better? Well, no offense, but you are obviously unemployed, or under-employed, am I right? I wish you had a better paying job, so you'd quit gripping. Although I enjoy knocking 'em down, I suppose.

Well, my economy is not so great since my job was out sourced
to China. I had to take an early retirement. I have health problems that no new employer would touch. I am too young to touch my 401K plan, my unemployment has run out. My medical premiums have gone up nearly 3 times with my great retirement plan. Yes, I have a house and I am not hungry. But I cannot afford to keep my house comfortable and I cannot afford to go see my grandkids. Yes, things are fine with whoever got my job in China.

Anyone with at least a rudimentary understanding of economics knows that the US economy is doing very well. We believe the truth. I realize that this is a difficult concept for some people to understand.

It is not doing too bad. You should learn more about earlier recessions and periods of high unemployment (e.g., early 70's). This is a cakewalk in comparison. Check recent history to find lower unemployment rates (not easy to do). Tax receipts are higher than they have ever been, unfortunately, Congressmen like to specialize in spending our cash as fast as they receive it (and then some). You can't reduce debt without reducing spending. It is too bad our country does not have the will to do the right thing. The entitlement mentality has taken hold like a cancer.

Well, if you ignore the record low unemployment, the uber- high stock market, the low interest rates, and the small and medium business growth numbers and only focus on gas prices (which we SHOULD be independent of by now) and the housing bubble popping (come on, who didn't see that coming), then yes, the economy is in shambles.......
And to Bottlethrower,
48 million who should go get jobs with health care
I believe it's called minimum wage, and if you're not a high-schooler, you should have better than that
Prescription drug costs are corporate decisions. It's not the government's responsibility to cap them. The market will eventually come out with generics which will lower prices. Kind of like the first plasma tvs. Tell the pharmaceuticals to stop sucking and life will be better for all. You want the best medical services don't you? Well then you have to pay for it... well.. unless you're a lib, then it's free!!
Mortgage default is rising because people splurged and thought they were financial Supermen. Don't buy what you can't afford and you don't have to worry about foreclosures.
And yes, the middle class is shrinking.... I guess.... in fact, I have never heard of that, so I doubt your credibility....
Have a great day......

I asked a similar question this morning, and the "answers", if you will, from the Bush Cult were underwhelming, at best.
have you ever noticed when pressured on the economy, none of them can post conclusive data or links to back up their Savage / Hannity talking points?
