well, lets see. I have a job. i pay the bills and then i go buy a ton of useless crap. Video games i never play. shoes i never wear. clothes with the tags still on them that have never been worn. so many books i could start my own book store. 4 computers, 3 tvs 2 dvd players, surround sound for the house. over 3000 cds. over 1000 movies....we spend more money in a week on stupid useless crap then what some people earn in a year.

In America, when we turn 16 we NEED a car. In other countries, people often don't get a car until they need one to get to their job. In the US, we NEED a TV in every bedroom, other counties might have one in the house. I think it all comes down to all the things we think we need, where other countries don't make these things priorities.

i think that to the outsider it seems that Americans consider wealth to be the pinnacle of achievement. its a shame really, cos i went to America twice and i have to say that the vast majority that i met i found to be charming
