If we did it would be daylight at 9PM and it would be dark at 8AM in the summer.
And by the way we DO celebrate the 4th of July. I don't know what that one guy is talking about.

Most places that did not bother had very little industry.
That should be a clue.
Daylight Savings time was created in the WWII era to save energy lighting factories. (and offices) the Idea was that by changing working hours to match daylight better they could conserve material costs on heating and lighting. That is why industrial areas have kept it. Farmers always timed their day according to the sun anyway so daylight savings time made no sense to them.
Even though industry chose it, daylight savings makes almost no sense in the North either. The days get so short that the savings in the morning are offset by the costs at the end of the day. If you are going to work before the sun rises and quitting after it sets there are no gains.

I suppose it's because they already get so much sun all year round, what would be the point of having longer days? I don't know if it's still this way, but the Indian Reservations used to go on Daylight Savings Time, because they were government property. With Indiana, I think it's because they are at the western edge of the eastern time zone and the sun already gets to them later compared to the East Coast.

because Arizona & Hawaii are the merely states which have discovered how stupid daylight hours mark downs time is. the entire u . s . might want to remove daylight hours mark downs time. Why might want to it snow in Mesa? you may't listen God because he has no longer something to assert to you! Mesa is a Spanish note meaning flat-crowned mountain or a table.

I don't know why but I live in Mass and I think it's stupid. Having to change the time twice a year to supposedly save energy is absurd. I think it's all a myth and if it does save energy is probably an insignificant amount.

Yeah- it gets pretty hot here in the summer. Most people do their outdoor activities in the morning when it's 70F. When you get home from work and it's over 100F- you can't wait for that sun to go down. So, we'd rather have the extra hour of light in the morning than in the evening.
It really makes perfect sense.

When Congress enacted it, the state simply chose not to adopt the resolution. That's all.

For the same reason they don't celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks - they are crusty old fuddy-duddies.
