I just purchased a new GE Profile dishwasher. It too runs for a very long time. 87 minutes is the short cycle, but the normal ends up being 113 minutes.
I think they run longer, but use less water making it overall more energy efficient.

I bought a new GE model GDF520PGDCC and on Normal cycle it runs 4 hours and 15 minutes with only a few, not so dirty, dishes. The manufacturer told me that is the expected length of time. I also must further dry the dishes. However, I was told by the seller that I am stuck even though it was run only 3 times and I wish to upgrade to a more expensive stainless steel lined tub.

My kenmore dishwasher is over 25 years old and it runs about 30 minutes and does a good job. I would call the store where you got it .

check to make sure it's getting enough water to run properly, also check the settings you have it set to. The more settings the longer the cycles, also look at what setting you have it on. regular won't take as long as pot scrub and heavy wash.
