here's the story. i had surgery february 9th to put a plate in to my wrist. so i was in a splint and a sling for 10 days, and then they put me in a cast. so i have a follow up on the 21st of march to get more x rays. do you think this will be the day i will get my cast off or will they tell me to wait a couple more weeks? what do u think? ( they didnt make it clear to me)

your follow up means xrays then they read the xrays then they decide ..in my opinion they will read xray and probably send you home with cast on till another follow up ...remember you have plate in your wrist for life so don;t rush it healing is what you need kara

your doctor will not remove the cast yet until after he's seen the result of your x-ray. the x-ray is used to determine whether the tissues around the break have already healed. a break heals faster if it is immobilized with a sling, a splint or a cast depending on the degree of the damage.

Listen to Kara and Candy-they are right! And I suggest that you make sure your doctor makes everything clear to you for your peace of mind.

I'm not a doctor, but...

Your age, your overall health, your diet (calcium-rich foods, lots of fruits and veggies), your genetic load for healing, whether you smoke (honest!)

Please try to be patient. Having to have it redone is worse than waiting.
