I am relocating to Chicago. I have applied to a few companies; no bites so far. But I still send out resumes. Any Ideas? Thanks

Yes, you should have a job lined up.

If you set yourself up with a job before you move, the company that hires you will likely pay for your moving expenses.

But that's not the most important thing. The most important thing is that you save yourself from the stress of moving, setting up a place to live, and searching desperately for a job while watching your savings dwindle and your credit card bills swell.

You're wasting your time right now. Before I moved to NY in July, I was sending out resumes starting in March... like you, no bites. Thing is, unless you're in "high demand" (as in you have some great, rare skills), they'll just overlook you right now and hire a local candidate. Start looking once you move and you're bound to start getting the interviews once you have a local address.

You don't need a job lined up but set aside some cash in case you don't get one right away.

Most definitely, unless you have a little cash stashed away to carry you til you find a job.
