720p on a 1080p TV looks like 720p... provided that you have an HDMI cable (preferably). There are already 1080p games; NBA 07, Ridge Racer 7, and many more.

A game that supports 720p that is being played on a 1080p HD looks just slightly better than it would on a 720p.(not much of a difference)
