Be VERY careful as anything you take WILL go to your son via breastmilk.
You would also affect your milk supply, as without adequate intake you will not produce sufficient milk.
If your appetite has increased, take it as a sign that your son is taking a lot of energy out of your body and your body needs more. It may be tired and is trying to compensate.
I put on 30 kilos with each pregnancy and did not loose most of that until I stopped breastfeeding.
You'll loose the weight, don't worry! :-) You don't want to risk harming your baby...

I would be careful about taking any over the counter appetite supressant. Someone suggested Chromium Picolinate, which helps you burn fat, but i don't know how safe it is while breastfeeding...most everything you take in goes right into the milk supply. I used to take it myself, but never while i breastfed. Usually, the act of breastfeeding alone burns alot of calories! Granted, you need to take in extra to compensate, but i always lost weight when i was nursing my children...even if i did have a bigger appetite! I would suggest taking in more water, which will hydrate you, make you feel fuller longer, and also help increase you milk supply. Do lots of fruit and veggies too. Stay away from too much over-processed food. I hope this advice helps! Good luck!

Drink lots of water, good water, and add a little lemon. The weight will come off, nursing is so wonderful for you and the baby. I would still be nursing mine if I could...I really loved it!! Do some exercises, too.

your appetite increasing could be a sign that your body is not getting all the nutrients it needs. are you still taking prenatal vitamins? my doc told me to take them as long as i was breast feeding. if you arent, then maybe look into taking a multivitamin of some sort, that may help. also, drink tons of water, it fills up your belly and it is calorie free and good for you. if water doesnt work, try a big glass of milk, both of these are good for you and your baby, and will curb your appetite.

I'm going through the same thing while nursing my 3 1/2 month old. I mix crystal light or propel powder in water and suck it down all day. That and the crazy mom life seems to keep me from finding time to fix something.
I also do not allow myself to by any foods of weakness. No boxes of brownie mix, or ice cream, or peanut butter, or chocolate (I'm getting depressed typing it all). That way, when I do have time to hunt down food in my kitchen, all I find are baked potatoes, or salad, fruit, etc.

Nothing that's safe, but a good trick to helping you eat less and gain less weight is to eat a salad before every meal. This way you will fill up more on lettuce then when you eat the actual meal.. you wont finish it. It works really well.

it is a bit tricky with breastfeeding. everyone says how you lose weight etc when you do it, but you are also ravenously hungry so wanna eat all the time! i joined weight watchers and found it good as they have a special breastfeeding programme and i learned to be able to still eat enough to stop me being hungry but still lose weight. there are various products that act as appetitie suppressants, but i think it may be a bit risky to take them when you are breastfeeding, you wouldn't want it to get into your baby's system.

Chromium Picolinate is proven to decrease appetite and leave you satisfied! You can get it at most health food stores or as a boost in many smoothie shops! :)
