Don't you know the song.. When i was young i studied u.s. geography when the teacher said would you stand up and list the states for me... my knees began a knocking my words fell out all wrong then suddenly i burst out with this silly little song...Alabama, and Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, and Connecticut, and more Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indianan, Iowa, still thirty five to go Kansas, and Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, and good OLE Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, and Montana, Nebraska's, number 37 number 38 Nevada, next new Hampshire, and new jersey, and way down to new Mexico, new york, north Carolina, north Dakota, O-hio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, now lets see Rhodie island, south Carolina, south Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and there's Utah, Vermont, I'm almost through Virginia, and there's Washington, and west Virginia, too could Wisconsin, be the last one or is it 49 no Wyoming is the last state in the 50 states that rhyme....sorry if there is some that are mispelled

No, I can only name 46. Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are Commonwealths, NOT states!

Sure. When I was in elementary school, we had to memorize all the states, know all the state capitals and be able to find each state on a blank map.
In addition, we had to identify every country on a blank world map and know their capitals too.
Guess they don't do that anymore.

I can, but not from the song or in alphabetical order. I do it by picturing each one. Better than that, Al Franken the comedian and soon to be politician, can DRAW them and name them while standing up in front of a live audience.
