Gotta be 91-92. Not to take away anything from an exciting young team, but Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury have a way to go yet before they are Jagr, Francis, Lemieux, Coffey, Trottier and Barrasso. Bowman gets the nod for coaching too. I am very surprised some answers upstairs say otherwise.

The only advantage I can fully give to the 91-92 team, besides the Stanley Cup, is the coaching. Scotty Bowman was a much better coach than Michel Therien is. Scoring, the 91-92 team had some guys, but not quite as many as the current unit. D, it is really a toss up because neither one seems outstanding at this point. In goal, I think I would give the edge to Tom Barrasso over Fleury because of the experience: Barrasso had more going into that playoff than Fleury will have going into this one. So, in the end, the edge goes to: 91-92. Mario Lemieux was willing to do anything in order to win the Stanley Cup, which he did.

You can't say "regardless of the stanley cup" man....Clearly 91-92 because OF the stanley cup. They got 'er done. 06-07 is currently getting 'er done, but after they win a cup ask the question again. Until then its 91-92 - can't judge until the 06-07 season is over.

91-92 by far, Lemieux is a better player then Crosby (Mario best player ever) Scotty bowman is a better coach then therrian and the 91-92 Pens had a better season and their success was able to carry over to the next season where they won there first and only president trophy

The current pens team is the most fun team to watch in the NHL. But the 91-92 team had one player that that the current one doesn't MARIO LEMIEUX. There will never be a player as dominant as Lemieux. But Crosby is still pretty damn awesome

The '91-'92 team had two things this year's team doesn't...Mario in his prime, and Scotty Bowman behind the bench. Sid will be one of the greatest players in NHL history, Malkin will be a force, and Fleury will be as good as Barasso was one day, but this year's team has too many defensive struggles.

It was 91-92. Although they were playing on a different level, as they were playing in memory of "Badger" Bob. Yeah Bowman, probably the best coach ever, helped guide them but they were different level for that. I also think they had better players. That was in part because they were proven and more experienced.

91-92. I dont see how anyone can say the current team is better.
Just look at the 91-92 roster AND coach.
The current team is good, but come on..

the current version has a slightly deeper team with 3 full scoring lines than the lemieux-led one in 91-92, the D is more consistent 1-6 and fleury vs barrasso... i'll take fleury.
