The following percentages represent who agrees or disagrees

Abortion should be legal under any circumstances
Women-28%
Men-23%

Abortion should be legal in most circumstances
Women-14%
Men-15%

Abortion should be legal in only a few circumstances
Women-40%
Men-43%

Abortion should be illegal in all circumstances
Women-15%
Men-16%

The above shows that most pro-choice people are only so under certain circumstances. It is appropriate to assume that these circumstances include rape or a medical complications. Another survey showed these circumstances make up less than 8% of abortions.

Abortion destroys a human life and is manslaughter
Women-51%
Men-51%

Abortion does not destroy a life and is not manslaughter
Women-33%
Men-37%

This shows that while some may approve of the choice to abort, they are disgusted with it.

So theoretically, only 18.76% of women and 15.41% of men are absolute pro-choice with no problems regarding abortion.

I don't think is true. Most women would have responded to being pro-choice.

What a previous answer said about most woman saying they are pro-choice is NOT my experience. I am a woman and am pro-life, and most of the women I know who I have had a chance to talk with about this are at least moderately pro-life.

I'm not sure exactly what point you're trying to make, if indeed you're trying to make one. (that's not meant to be a slam, just stating I'm uncertain if you're really just seeking opinions, or trying to make a point yourself).

So without offering my own opinions on abortion, I'll just make the comment that like almost everyone who quotes surveys, you're incorrect when you say: "The following percentages represent who agrees or disagrees..."

What they actually reflect is the percentage of the small sampling of people who participated in the survey, who agree or disagree with the statements, not the percentage of the general population who agree or disagree. The percentages in most surveys are very subjective depending on who financed and/or took the survey ("Moral Majority" or "Planned Parenthood" for example), how it was structured, how exactly the questions were worded, etc.

So I don't really have a point to make here about abortion. My point is to just remember that no survey is 100% accurate, and that such surveys are extremely susceptable to prejudice and manipulation, whether intentional or not.

Be very careful of basing your own opinions on surveys, and not to use them solely to bolster your own preconceived viewpoints and/or prejudices.

Remember, a survey taken in earlier times would have shown that perhaps 90% of Americans were pro-segregation and against womens' voting and property rights (keeping in mind that probably only white males would have been surveyed).

Again without offering my own opinions, what does that say about todays surveys regarding abortion, gay rights, etc.?

Very good info, thanks. Once again it just proves the drive by media distorts everything to get the kind of news they want to report. They always say the vast majority of Americans approve of abortions.

I think we all have to live with decisions we make laws should not dictate morality. I think people care too much about what strangers are doing instead of there own children.
