swaddling, diapers, make a quilt, scrap book, gifts, make dolls out of them, make them into a makeshift ladder to escape from the upstairs room, dog blankets, parashutes for dolls, dust cloths, electronics covers, curtains, slipcovers, rugs, shirts,
are just a few off the top of my head.

Let me tell you about receiving blankets and how they work and the best use. Within time you will many uses but here are the best uses for your receiving blanket:
1.- Cover your baby while both of you guys are in the hospital
room, since hospital rooms are so cold.
2.- Instead of using vinyl cover changing pads just like the
ones that came with your diaper bag or you purchased
individually use receiving blankets instead due to the fact that
they are washable and vinyl pads usually gets wiped down
with wipe baby wipes and throw back in the diaper bag.
3.- When using a public restroom changing table lay a receiving
blanket intead those vinyl covers to protect your baby.
4.- When raining outside and you have to dart out to your car or
from your car to your house or a building throw a receiving
blanket on top of the baby and your baby will be dry in a very
safe way.
5.- When feeding your baby in the middle of the night partially
cover your baby it will make your baby feel more secure and
will be less fussy.
6.- If you are planning to keep all your onesies and other outfit
folded and keep in the drawers use receving blankets as
drawer liners that way cloth are keep fresh and warm the
blankets should be refreshed every other for week.
7.- While using a convertible car seat or Infant Carrier during
hot weather stick a receiving blanket between the padding
of the seat and the actual seat and this will help isolate the
heat retained by the plastic of the seat and later tranferred
onto the padding, by doing this the sweating of your baby will
be very minimal.
8. When driving put the infant carrier handles up and throw a
receiving blanket on top of it. There two function with this
setting, First it will keep the sun out of his/her way. and the
second is that in case of an accident and any of your car
window would shatter by having a receiving blanket on top of
the car seat that way your baby would be protected from
glass fragments.
have fun

When my daughter (19 months) had a cold, the doctor told me to keep her head elevated when she slept. I didnt have any extra pillows to put under the mattress so I used dug out a few her old receiving blankets and used them instead. You can also give them as gifts at a baby shower. Or just sew them together and make one big blanket out of it.

They never swaddled well for me as single blankets. But if you sew them together you get a big receiving blanket that swaddles a baby into the later months and can even be used as the child gets older.

I have used mine for covering up while nursing and a spit up rag and just as a normal light weight blanket during summer months (like a sunshade).

using receiving blankets to swaddle the baby with after it's born. the baby is used to being in tight, cramped quarters (the womb) and swaddling it comforts it. I have four children and I did it with all four of mine and it worked wonders!!!

The ones you buy at the store are too small.. only last a few weeks, then are too small. I made several larger ones that were GREAT!! when my second came along, I cut the store-bought ones in half, then folded each half in half again and sewed them up... they made great changing pads. Use prefolded cotton cloth diapers for spit up rags/pads for shoulders... They can be dusting rags in their second life.

I believe all of us else - this is considering that's what the infant is wrapped in once you first get carry of them after their tub. I continuously used them for burp cloths too. The burp cloths that they make at the instant are not almost sufficiently great to seize all of it!

NO. It was a waste of money. I bought so many and hardly used them. Buy one just in case. I only used it about a month to wrap my baby during the day.

i put one in my diaper bag, and used it as a blanket, if my children fall asleep in the stroller, because they fold so thin and flat so easy to carry around with you....
