I love redlobster, I work for their sister restaurant Olive Garden. As long as you are nice and pleasant, offer refills and don't try to hard you will get a good tip. Sometimes this doesn't work because you have those people who come in and already have their mind set on what they are gonna tip you before you even come to the table. This is due to their budgets or just plain old brokeness(lol) I

Red Lobster is my all time favorite place to eat. I love the food, and have never had a bad experience there. It's a bit spendy, but worth every penny. The place has always been clean, the servers are well groomed and have great attitudes. I really think the management does a great job when it comes to hiring employees. When you have a party of 5 or more the gratuity is automatically figured into your bill. It is then your choice if you want to tip more or not.

The service is variable, good to gawdawful. The menu is mass-production, heavy on oil, with subprime frozen shellfish. Shrimp are not always 'deveined' (ick) How not to get a good tip: Overselling menu items; Waiting out the table to see if they'll walk before you come back with the change from that $50 bill for the $32 check. I got into a stand-off with a ditz at the Irving, Tx. Red Lobster that ran over 15 minutes (near-empty section) until I got the manager to fetch her. While the letter sent to Red Lobster Central got me a $20 gift card for my trouble, I don't know what sort of feed-back she got. For the stand-off, she got 8% for what would've been 15%~20%.

Personally it's not for me. The waits to get a table are ridiculously long, the seafood isn't that great compared to non-franchise restaurants, the drinks are watered down and it's a family restaurant which means there are usually kids all over the place. I haven't been in years, but I imagine they're using those ridiculous "pagers" that light up and vibrate when your table is ready (otherwise, they're still shouting out your name which is just as bad).

I'm sure this doesn't apply to all of them, but the one in my area hires waitstaff who are barely literate if they speak much english at all. I avoid it.

I have always found Red Lobster to have good food and be a place of good dining experience. Plesant servers that smile and are prompt always get 20% from me.

While personally, I really dislike the place, I know quite a few people who work there and say they make great money.
Just keep in mind, the location of the one you work at has A LOT do with business.

Atlanta Georgia, February 2006-

I went there on a Saturday. On Sunday, I was sicker than I have evr been in my whole life. I could not move because the shift of my body would give me an extreme headache. Wat you think I think about Red Lobster?
