what is the best way to catch a mouse in the house ? regular mouse traps dont work, the jaw kind always fail and they seem to avoid the sticky traps. I live on a farm with farm cats so either they dont find mice appetizing or else the mice are smartter than us and the cats. please help.

Most people apply mouse traps the wrong way, that's why they don't work. Follow a few rules, and they work every time.

1. Never use only one, as a mouse can easily hop over one on his way to/from wherever. Two in a row will catch at least some part of him/her.

2. Always use them along the line of the wall, and where possible near corners. Put two near each part of the corner.

3. Don't lay them long side next to the wall, but short side to the wall, two together.

4. Check the bait frequently, as an empty hook catches few fish.

Have you tried bait blocks. The mice eat it, and it eats them from the inside out without the smell of death lingering around so badly. Try putting a small piece of peanut butter on the sticky traps. When you lay a sticky trap, it'll take a couple days for the "human" scent to leave enough for them to try it.

Well when I lived on the ranch we had mice but not in the house because we wouldnt feed the cats but every other day. Hungry cats = no mice. Jerald.

I'm not into mouse traps, or poison, I think they are both messy and cruel. There is a trap you can buy that kills mice and rats instantly by electricution , my parents use it. Sorry I don't know the name of it. But I reckon you could get it on Ebay.
