She is 7 months old. I believe she is teething. She's been crying on and off since we put her to bed at 7pm. She calms down for a bit and starts up again. We tried soothing, rocking, teething rings, a cold wet washcloth, Tylenol, distraction with toys, a pacifier, and nothing has worked yet. Any suggestions?

have you tried ambisol for babies. that should do it and also motrin will help with the swelling. that's the part that hurts. that's where the old wives tail of putting aspirin on a sore tooth came from, aspirin is a antiinflamitory and baby motrin will not give your baby rye syndrome so don't worry. the tylenol should be given in between- like if you gave her tyleol first wait 2 hrs then do the motrin then wait 2 hrs to do the tylenol if shes still crying, but wait to give the next does of motrin for another 2 to 4 hrs because it will last longer than the tylenol. the ambosol should help with 90% of the pain and she should get a lot better sleep just from that . also she might have gas with the tooth coming in .you might try milacon drops too, just to help. sorry if there are any misspellings with ambosol and milacon drops. i'm not totally sure how they are spelled, but good luck anyway.

Sometimes you can't make them stop crying. You just have to be there and hold them and help them through it.

You can give motrin (ibuprofen) 3 hours after you gave the tylenol, then tylenol again 3 hours after that (so tylenol at 7, motrin at 10, tylenol at 1, etc.). It's safer for their liver to rotate.

Sometimes when my daughter really got cheesed off, giving her a bath helped. Reading a book sometimes helps, too. The pictures are distracting. But unfortunately, I think this is going to be one of those nights where you're in the chair rocking until the wee hours of the morning, and there's nothing you can do. Sorry. It's just part of having a baby. :(

Looks like you've said you tried the Tylenol but did you know you can do the Motrin / Tylenol switch off every two hours!!!???? Tylenol at 6p / Motrin at 8/ Tylenol at 10p / Motrin at 12a......etc. I'd also rub a dab of Baby Orajel on her gums for extra measures.

But hey, maybe it isn't her teeth at all. Maybe she has gas??? Try a little of the gripe water. Gripe water works wonders for lots of things.....and the calming aspects in it could very well help with her teething too.

Good Luck and hang in there.....

Sometimes you cant! Sometimes you just have to let them cry it out. I have a 6 1/2 month old who has been sprouting teeth since 4 months!! Ive done all the things that you have tried, I dont think she is teething as bad as yours is, But when we have done everything that we feel we could possibly do we let her cry it out and usually within 15 minutes or less she is sleeping. She may have an ear infection instead of teething which can make them inconsolable also.

yes teething is rough. try buying or introducing new toys. empty boxes are great. pans and wooden spoons. a cleaned chip bag that has been cut down the sides (very noisy toy), music, tv., the vacuum cleaner,

the finger glove style baby tooth brush helps too

One thing that worked when nothing else did was walking around the house with the baby, holding him upright, pointing things out to him and telling him what they were called.

Also, if she is teething you can try Anbesol.

Good luck.

Try Hyland's teething tablets. They are "holistic" and you can get them drugstores, wal-mart, etc. Also, children's/infants ibuprofen might work better than tylenol. Ibuprofen reduces swelling, and that may ease her gums as well as being a pain reliever.

I send you my sympathy. My 19 mo old is still cutting teeth and it's not easy!

Did you also try Baby Orajel? I know I was lost without it when my son was teething.

put her in the car and take her for a ride. works like a charm on my 2 boys. just don't make a habit of it or they will rely on it to fall asleep in the future. make sure she is really out before bringing her back in the house. good luck!
