As a NFL QB his stock is limited. While a gifted athlete he lacks the size and arm strength to be starting QB in the NFL. I think you'll find a few teams willing to take a shot at him in the later rounds 5th or 6th.

Wow if i new you,You Would be my best freind man, them are my thoughts azactly, he's not just the heisman winner possibly the best QB out of the big ten Since Drew Brees from Purdue
just a note though look how far brees went in the draft i think 3rd or 4th round and look at him now, not matter what the browns will get him where ever he goes in the draft, and he will retire C.Fry
but 1 thing i've been guessing is that he gained all his awarness and leasder ship last season and that was his only year being amung the top QB's but that dont mean $hit to me i think he was awsome his entire Career, and tressel told the media that if it wernt for him he dont think they would of beat miami back in 2002 When smith was red shirted
by the way "DEES07" Jason White Retired before his rookie preason started and he would of devolped2 if not for that you jack *** get your head right

1. Troy didn't show up at the combine to work. That sent a bad message to the pro scouts.
2. He showed that defensive speed really throws him off his game during the National Championship game against Florida. Defenses in the NFL are exponentially faster than those in college, especially on the D-line and at linebacker.
3. Russell has a better skill set than T. Smith, and also has the kind of size pro scouts drool over. It is debatable whether Quinn has better skills, but he is taller, and showed up at the combine to work.
4. Keep in mind that the Heisman goes to the best college player, not necessarily the best NFL prospect. Many Heisman qb's have been total busts in the NFL

Well, simply because he's undersized. It's hard for a 6 foot tall QB to see over a line of mammoth O-linemen. He hasn't had alot of starting experience either. Just because he's a heisman trophy winner doesn't mean he'll be a great NFL player. Have you ever heard of Jason White, Eric Crouch, or even Ron Dayne? None of those guys ever developed into even solid NFL players. (Ron Dayne has his moments here and there.)
I could see him being a mid-second to early third round pick.

okay to respond to Why he's not a prevalent %. is uncomplicated. he's merely 6 ft Tall and contained in the NFL communities like there Quarterbacks to be a minimum of 6'a million or 6'2. the reason being via the indisputable fact that is more durable for them to work out over the Tall Offensive Lineman that are 6'5 or 6'6. also this is been questions about his arm power. Scouts do not sense like that is solid adequate to be a beginning Quarterback contained in the NFL. They sense like Ted Ginn Jr and Anthony Gonzalez bail him out on a great number of performs. today he's projected to be a 0.33 round %. contained in the Draft. that ought to danger because the NFL combine is in March or Early April. If he has an magnificent exercising habitual and interview on the NFL combine his draft inventory would bypass up. Now i think he would bypass to the Carolina Panthers because they're looking for for a Quarterback to challenge Jake Delhomme. He had a foul season very last year and they gained't draft a quarterback contained in the first round. i visit't see the Raiders taking Smith because the are going to take Jamarcus Russell out of LSU with the first %. so as that does no longer make a lot sense. So i'm hoping I responded your Questions.

the answer is on a bench somewhere for 5 years before being out of the league...he's a 4th or 5th round pick, the heisman means almost nothing, except he put up numbers in the big ten and was a team "leader". he's too small, isn't fast, can't handle pressure, and doesn't throw the ball with great velocity. he's a good guy but won't make a name for himself in the nfl.

That projection is way too high. Yes he was an outstanding college quarterback, but the pro game is much different. He lacks size (6'0") and arm strength to be an nfl qb. He is a great athlete but nothing special as a pro quarterback. He won't be drafted until at least the 3rd round, most likely 4th-5th

It's possible because he's a COLLEGE player, most pro teams think he doesn't have what it takes to make it. There have been a lot of Heisman winners who didn't make it in pro football.

he'll probably be a 2nd round pick by the Lions or Browns and become a bust like almost every QB taken by those teams have been like Tim Couch, Andre Ware and many others

He'll end up in Cleveland. They need someone that will put fans in the seats, even if he's not starting. Their QB situation kinda sucks and they can get him in the second round.
