Abraham Lincoln died in April 14, 1865 after being shot in the head by assassin John Wilkes Booth. He and his wife were at a performance of "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre, in Washington, DC. Booth was an actor and Southern sympathizer who blamed Lincoln for starting the Civil War and the subsequent downfall of the South.

The Abraham Lincoln assassination took place on shortly after 10 p.m., on April 14, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln was shot while attending a performance of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre with his wife and two friends. Lincoln died the following day in the home of William Petersen. His assassin was John Wilkes Booth, an actor and Confederate.
