I agree, I really wanted Little Miss. Sunshine to get best picture, it was original and unique and funny all rolled in one. Departed was ok but not one of the better of Scorsese's films.

Little Miss Sunshine was pointless, The Queen was for brits only and Babel was a poltiically correct mess. That leaves The Departed and Letters From Iwo Jima. The winner: Letters from Iwo Jima, a powerful film.

I would say that while Martin Scorsese deserved Best Director
Letters From Iwo Jima should have easily won Best Picture.

I loved the Departed
And Martin Scorsese has been nominated for so many great movies, classics and has never won.He deserved to win.He has paid his dues. And the movie was an excellent movie.
