It really all depends upon what you're looking for and price range. I've had cleaners by Hoover, Kenmore and Bissell.

I prefer the ones by Bissell. The trick to good cleaning is to use the hottest water you can and make sure you go very slow. The slower you go the more it cleans.

To clean your carpets yourself is a waste of time and money. Call a carpet cleaning company and the will clean your carpets in about half the time that you would be able to do it. Somethings in life are not worth doing yourself and carpet cleaning is one of them.
