well i have been smoking for several years now off and on. but i have been on zoloft for about 2 years and the last few times i have smoked i have felt very paranoid and the high hasnt been worth it. i havent ever gotten paranoid smoking before and its not like i am new to smoking because i've done my fair share of drugs (lsd, mushrooms, lil cocain..ect) but anyways when i smoke my heart seems to race and its just an odd feeling. i was woundering if anyone knew if smoking with on this meds causes this kind of a reaction. even for several days after i smoke i feel odd and was woundering if this is because of the mixture or its just something for me personaly.

AND. for all you who think drugs are bad and are just going to voice that i am an idiot please keep those thoughts to yourself. thanks.

I was on Zoloft for over a year, and had to quit smoking marijuana because of panic attacks that would occur after smoking it. Same thing happens when you smoke while your on Paxil too. Panic attacks suck, and if your gonna be on meds and don't want them, don't smoke.

First, pot is a drug that is very likely to cause paranoia. It probably isn't the mix, although it may be. I don't think they do studies for this. lol So, the big question what do you do? Give up the pot that is killing your brain cells, sorry it is true, I did it too. Or give up the Zoloft which may help you if you were taking it alone. It would be my advice to get off the pot and take the zoloft for a few more weeks, then see if you are feeling the same. It may be you are ready to give it all up and be brave and face the world on your own. This would be the best solution. Just my opinion. But, we all need help at times, I did zoloft too for a while because of a situation that caused me great depression. I stopped gradually when I was able to cope, so it has it's place. Good luck to you. I hope you make the right decision.

First, I won't call you stupid for taking the drugs and smoking marijuana. It's not my call.
But you could be harming your heart doing these together. The zoloft is an antidepressant and works on the blood pressure and areas of the brain.
The mary jane makes your brain do odd things also and is unprdictable at times. The combination could be driving your heart more to pump blood and thus raising the blood pressure. You could als be paranoid about taking the two together.
Either way, you are taking chances with your life.
Good luck.

It is not wise to smoke while on Zoloft. Doing so could cause a potientially harmful reaction. Your heart is working extra hard so it is really not wise. My suggestion is to abstain from smoking marijuana. However, if you continue to do so you should seriously consider getting off the Zoloft. Do not do it without the help of your doctor though.

The common side effect of Zoloft is anxiety, rapid heart beat, vomiting only to mention a few, combine this drug with marijuana, which can also cause the same side effects, and you are playing with your life. You have to make a choice, Zoloft or marijuana. Read up on Zoloft, then read up on marijuana, I hope you make a wise decision. Don't use both please.
