I am about 5 weeks pregnant, and have been having bad back pain for about a week. I thought it was a pregnancy symptom, but I read that this is a sign of a miscarriage. I am not spotting, or anything else. Is is possible that my back just hurts from being pregnant?

You maybe getting dehydrated. Your kidneys could be warning you. Or you have a pinched nerve..

Because you are not having any other problems please stop worrying.

Do you have time to soak in a bath tonight? If so this may help.
Lay on your back on the floor and put two pillows under bent knees and stay there for 30 minutes.
Tonight while you sleep put a pillow between your knees and lay on your left side.

Good luck hun and congrats.

No, it is not a symptom of a normal pregnancy until the last month or two when the weight of the baby can cause it. I'm thinking you might have a tubal pregnacy as they are painful and you can hurt in your back or stomach. This is about how far along that the problems start. Pain across the back can also be kidney infection so either way, you need to see a Dr as soon as possible. You don't want a tubal to get far enough along to burst the tube or you will lose that tube and only have half as much chance to get pregnant in the future. If the pain gets worse tonight go to an emergency room. If you don't spike a fever get in touch with your doctor in the morning. Good Luck and God Bless

Bad back pain can also be caused from your uterus enlarging during early pregnancy to accomodate for your new baby. Sometimes the back pain can feel like muscles pulling or even period cramping.

I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and started having back and side pains at 4 weeks. They have just started calming down a bit this week, though if I twist or move too suddenly, I still experience a bit of pain.

If you get any of the other accompanying symptoms of miscarriage, I would definitely consult the doctor or ER immediately... however, if back pain is your only woe, it is normal in early pregnancy!

Good luck!

You know what's weird... I just got back from the emergency room for back pain and cramping. I am 21 weeks and freaked out that I was having a miscarriage! Turns out I had a very bad UTI (Urinary tract infection) and was off the charts with it. With my first child I had bladder infections all the time. If you are using the bathroom alot I would ask my doctor to test me for a UTI or you can purchase a test a Wal - Mart if you can't wait. I would start drinking cranberry juice, orange juice, and lots of water. As to your question.... don't worry sweety. Your not bleeding. You should be ok. But please do call your doctor asap to give yourself a break. Remember, your doctor gets paid alot of money to help you so ask and tell him/her whatever you want!

I doubt that your back hurts from pregnancy, it's just too soon for that and you don't have any extra weight to make that happen
I would go to the doctor and get checked out it could be gas or a kidney infection sometimes those feel like back pain

It is very possible that your backache is from pregnancy. If you do have a miscarriage, you will spot/bleed. As long as you are not spotting I would *try* not to worry. It's not easy, i know. And get used to it...the worrying never ends!

Yes it is possible depending on your body frame and the size of the baby. However, you need to call your physician and let them know what is going on. They may want to check you out just to be sure. Good luck and congrats!!
