I own a 2003 Ford Explorer 4x4. When it takes off from a stop while turning right or left it has a slight vibration for about the first 5-10 feet. If you take off in a straight line it doesnt do it at all. If you take off straight for a few feet then turn it also does not vibrate. Any Ideas? U-joint? Just tryin to get an idea before getting it looked at. Thanks!!

What about alignment or balancing? Is the vibration in the drive line or could it be wheels or tires? If it is the driveline, it could be the u joint. Maybe your mechanic could drive it and feel exactly what it is doing and then advise you.

It sounds like you have an issue with the front axles. They do have u-joints in axle. you may also have wheel bearing probblem. It would not hurt to check ball joints while you are looking at the front end.

sounds like a bad wheel bearing or a hub thats sticking it into 4x4 or just as simple as a bad alighnment.
