I will be about 10 weeks along (according to my LMP)

Is there anything I need to do/know before I go for my first doctors visit? What are they going to do? I'm so excited yet scared at the same time!!!

also, how accurate is the LMP due date?

those of you who were pregnant with twins... did you have a "feeling" (like not really symptoms or anything just a mental feeling)before you knew you were pregnant with twins? I keep having these dreams about twins and somewhere down the line someone heard im having twins so people keep asking how the twins are doing it really freaks me out! I'm not overwieght or anything I could see where if i was, it'd be a joke but I only wiegh about 110 so that doesnt really match up lol

thank you guys!!

well try to eat a full meal before you go because there going to want to check to see that the baby is moving. they'll rub this "slimy" stuff on your stomach and stick a monitor to check the babys heart beat, they'll check you blood presure and your weight, and they'll measure your stomach to make sure the baby is growing. I cant actually help you with the twins part

Usually at the first visits they do a vaginal ultrasound- while it's not that pleasant, its usually something they do only the first few times to get a better picture of your "bean." By doing the ultrasound they are able to measure the baby and calculate how far along you are from there.

Other tests they might run include a blood test and a urine test. The urine test will be done each time to check your sugar levels. It's a good idea to drink plenty of water before each visit for that reason, for them also to take a better ultrasound and of course, for the well being of your baby. They'll also weigh you and take your heart rate as well.

It's an exciting time! i'm due with my second this Friday :-) The check ups always make you feel close to your baby. If twins run in your family, you never know! Good luck to you- don't be nervous, it's a wonderful thing.

As people said, it's a basic checkup. If you haven't had a pap in a while they'll offer that, I always turn it down because of my history of miscarriages, I don't want anyone touching my cervix while pregnant ;-)

I wanted to add, while the due date is somewhat accurate, PLEASE do not let some doctor down the line finagle you into being induced because you're 'late' by three days or something. Or look to it as a deadline. It is normal for women to go into labor up to two weeks earlier and two weeks later, than their due date. Every woman is sooo individual, and even having a 30 day cycle instead of a 28 day cycle can throw off due dates by more than a week. I myself have NEVER had a baby on my due date, except for my two inductions ON my due date. But the other five were weeks later. When women focus on 'getting it over' rather than enjoying every day of the pregnancy, then the last few weeks before hand seem like torture (seriously look at the questions about 'when will my doc induce me?' or 'I'm 38 weeks, why won't I go into labor?')

Anyway, it's late and I'm rambling because the kids are asleep. CONGRATS on your pregnancy, many happy blessings on your continued growth as a mother, and enjoy every day.

The first visit is pretty uneventful unless they find your babies heart rate, then it is exciting.Make sure you have your family health history and the fathers also.

The LMP is fairly accurate if your cycle was consistent, I was due with my first one March 26, 1999 and I had him April 3, 1999 then four months later I got pregnant again and I had no idea what my LMP was and I guessed and my due date was April 17, 2000. My ultrasound said my due date should be April 30, 2000. I had my daughter on May 1, 2000.

I didn't have twins, but my sister did and her gut instinct was that she was having one boy. She had twin girls. Her instinct didn't work, but I had gut instincts on the sex of my children and I was right. So sometimes you win some and sometimes you don't.

My sister who had the twins was around 101 lbs. when she got pregnant, and she was only 16. She carried the girls full term, had healthy C- Section, and she is now 98 lbs. and lookin great!

Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!

Morning ailment is quite reliable for the toddler, regardless of the easy undeniable truth that it truly is unfavourable for you, i understand. there is anti-nausea drugs which will be functional a contact. you'll hit upon it on the save contained in the aisle with each and each and all the disappointed abdomen drugs. you'll desire to be nice with waiting till January on your first appointment see you later as you've now no longer were given any discomfort or continual themes like diabetes and are searching after your self. besides, women were having toddlers for who's conscious of ways lengthy with out going for a prenatal bypass to. No shaggy canine tale- I had a nurse as right now as tell me that she knew a affected man or woman who not in any respect had a prenatal bypass to yet presented a extraordinarily healthful toddler.

Bridget V had a great answer!!!
what I can add to this is shave your legs. Sounds funny but I remember looking down and think oh my god, what is the doctor going to think about me. Silly I know. But it makes you feel better because they spend more time by your legs then they do at your face.

Ask the nurse when they normally do blood test and physicals. And bring your weekly planner to mark the dates.

Also having the little planner in your purse you can mark important things down that you will want to have in your baby book. Even the nurses name can be a fun memory.

Congrats Hun!!!!!

At my first visit my doctor did a pap smear, a breast exam, and ultrasound, ordered blood tests, took my BP, and I peed in a cup.The LMP due date is fairly accurate if you have regular periods, if not then your due date will be determined by ultrasound and a series of measurments. The twins thing, I dont know.Good luck.

In addition to writing down your questions, you should also be prepared to answer questions about your health history. If you or the baby's father have any health problems or any problems at birth your ob should know about it.
Congratulations!

You should write down any questions you have and bring them with you so you don't forget to ask them.
