First of all, don't go calling it a "fictional fairy-tail" until you learn about it. Here is a page from wikipedia that should give you a pretty good idea of what the man was talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution

The reason such controversy exists, is that evolution is the exact opposite of creationism. Creationism states that we were all just "put here" by some higher being. And since there is supposed to be a seperation of church and state in public schools, they cannot teach that. Evolution states that over time, there were slight genetic mutations that over the course of millions of years, resulted in different species. Of course, since they cannot teach creationism, religious people argue that they can't teach evolution either since it wouldn't be fair.

In middle school and in biology class in highschool, they did things slightly differently. They presented both arguments, and weren't allowed to favor either side. This pretty much solves the problem. Even if you don't accept the other sides stance on the issue, it's still good to learn about it.

The theory of evolution by natural selection is the cornerstone of biology and is not in crisis; except in some minds under delusion. This " fictional-fairy tale ", as you call it, is supported by mountains of evidence and has predictive power. The real " fictional-fairy tale ", creationism, is not supported by one scintilla of evidence and can not predict next Tuesday! I suggest you go here for the truth; if you dare.

Sorry--the theory of evolution isn't in crisis--it is well established scienct. What should be banned from our schools is the so-caled creationism or "intelligent design"--which are simply attempts by the right-wing "Christians" to indoctrinate other peoples' children in their cults.

It is controversial because for the people that follow the word of the bible closely the theory of evolution is incorrect. Many don't believe in natural selection rather than creation.
