I am considering taking hip-hop dance lessons, but have semi-bad knees (they sometimes twist if I step on my feet wrong). I was wondering if there was anything I could do to prevent this from happening? I have heard that hip-hop dancing is fun, and a great work-out. Thanks!

just take the class and tell the teacher so that they will know your problem and help you adjust when you are doing certain movements.

I have bad knees too (and shoulders), but I don't let that stop me from dancing. One new technique that I've learned is to turn my feet out when we are doing low movements, therefore I don't have to worry about having my knees over my feet which tends to hurt more so than if your feet are straight ahead.

what also helps is to warm up your legs and knees before you dance. to make your knees stronger, consider paying special attention to them when you are in the weight room. quad and hamstring exercises (properly) will strengthen your knees.

don't forget to have fun! good luck
