Two questions:
How old are you? (Less than 50, watch out, get checked often!)
Have you had it checked out, do you know for sure it is BPH?

If you are sure it is BPH, saw palmetto is very effective it also helps for male pattern baldness, other very effective herbs are stinging nettle root (sounds bad but even guys over 50 that don't have trouble yet should take this one) it will also help keep things pointing in the right direction ;-), another helpful is pygeum. If you check out the health stores there are several preparations that have a blend of these herbs. One I have seen is Now brand Prostate Support
Dietary wise a male should have at least 5 servings per week of tomato (pasta sauce is very good), red grapefruit, and watermelon. The important ingredient here is lycopene, every male past puberty should try to maintain a diet rich in lycopene, it will help to keep the prostate under control as long as possible. Another product that can help is ground flax seed (golden is best) two table spoons full per day will even help those suffering with prostate cancer as indicated by lowering the PSA.
The prostate enlarges because as we age the ratio of estrogen to testosterone gets too high, estrogen causes BPH, but once the prostate turns cancerous testosterone fuels the fire and the source of testosterone must be removed (ouch)
One sobering thought; every male will develop prostate cancer if he lives long enough, but most old men die with prostate cancer not from it.
You are never too young to start taking care of this little trouble-making gland.

Saw palmetto seed/extract is usually the most commonly recommended OTC product to treat an enlarged prostate. There are other prescription options if you see your doctor.

Saw Palmetto. I am not too sure but I this only alleviates the urinary symptoms and may not address the fact that it is enlarged.

I don't know if it's the best but it is probably the most popular. It is Saw Palmetto.
