Simply put, why would it have stopped it? You had multiple countries trying to get a piece of the prize and none left the Berlin Conference fully satisfied. That is why the "Scramble for Africa" sped up after the fact. Then you had things like the Italo-Abssynian War and the Boer War, Morocco being divided up, and lastly the annexation of Egypt. It went on for years and people were simply greedy. What better fuel for a fire like war than greed?

you know the answer. they wanted to colonize africa. why? it is always the same reason with everything from people to penquins. cravings for things. somewhere to sleep, something to eat, something to relieve the sex drive, etc. every damn thing on earth has to eat. plants and animals. at the lowest level there are no morals, ethics or anything unless there is a common value or religious belief to share. it is the bad side of nature. god made it that way because it was his plan. his plan includes evolution. evolution requires this grinding competition.

In addition to losing their African Colonies, Germany was told to pay for the cost of the first world war.
This left Germany and its citizens very poor, and inflation was brutal.

Along came a true German: Hitler, who promised them more.
Another war is born: The war that became known to all as the Second world war! lol......

I could not resist saying all that! :)
