To be honest, the person I loved most is my Dad. We lost him 2 years ago.
No, I don't need to have one more minute with him. I was there when he died. We had a week to say good-bye, and I told him exactly how I feel.
Strangely enough, I can feel his presence at times. The whole family agrees he's not really gone. We just can't see him anymore. He is alive in us, in our memories of this remarkable man.
Thanks for giving me some time to express my love for my Dad.

This is a provocative question. I assume you mean one more minute "before" they died. If true, & this meant one more minute of suffering, I'd say no. However, from my last experience with someone dying, (my spouse), & spending 24/7 in & out of hospital, at what I "knew" was the end, & much "fighting" to live, with virtually no hope, I was able to calm, & RELEASE. Difficult to express exactly what I mean. But, partially comatose & thrashing desperately, I expressed my love, that this person was going to a beautiful place (whether I believed that or not is irrelevant) & to JUST LET GO. Some people will say that certain physical responses are reflexes, & sometimes that's true. But in this case, I immediately saw the relaxation, & the smile, & 10 minutes later--gone. I can't remember feeling more at peace. I can only wonder if a person dying fights as hard for those loved as for themselves. "Letting go" & encouraging them to let go, (with love), is perhaps the best thing one can do. This isn't easy.
But it's best. Yes, under certain circumstances, I would welcome "one more minute."

I would not want to spend another minute with my sick loved ones who have passed on. Their pain is over, whatever said was said, I think they knew how we felt, so why prolong their pain and reopen our own wounds that time has begun to seal.

Besides the obvious: I love you; I would take the time to thank them for being in my life. One extra minute might be horrible suffering to them -- then, I would have to say NO I don't want an extra minute....cause that would make me selfish....and I am not!

Hmmm...If I couldn't spend more than one minute then I don't think I'd want the opportunity. To have that person for such a short time and then lose them again.
No thanks. Hurts too much.

I would love to spend more time with my friend Deidre who passed away shortly after Katrina. How I miss her! I would just tell her how much I admired her and tell her that she meant the world to me. We never really said that to each other because we just thought that we would have forever to be together.

I think maybe there's a lesson to be learned here?! Tell people you love what you feel about them NOW! Don't wait untill it's too late!

If I could see my grandfather, I'd be like "Nice to meet you" or "Why did you have to die?" or something.
