I throw a curveball that breaks very well. However, I don't always control it; this past Tuesday I closed a game and threw it extremely effectively, but yesterday I started and threw 1 of 12 curveballs for a strike. I need to get it to where I can throw it anytime.

There are some very good answers given to you. But no one mentioned "mechanics" or "relaxation". As you are warming up be cognizant of where your front foot lands. Adjust if it isn't landing where it should. Is your arm level before delivering the pitch? Also be award of your wrist. Could be something else. I was taught to relax and in doing so my curve (I'm right-handed) actually went wider from a right-handed batter. Hope this is as helpful as the others you have received. Good luck.

tired is a good reason, or maybe you just need more practice throwing the curve. its not an easy pitch to learn how to throw consistently. If you're still in high school? or college ball? Just keep practicing at it. The other thing is you may be trying to hard. When younger pitchers get behind they try to throw harder and end up doing worse. Throw better not harder.

a tired arm is usually the problem. you might think that practice is the answer, but if your curve is fine usually try throwing it less, especially in practice. hopefully you have a good fastball. get a good workout routine. watch film of yourself. if your not on top of your curve and following through properly make adjustments. 90% of the time when the ball is breaking but your losing command it's fatigue.

I think you are over-throwing your curveball. That pitch should only be used sparingly,on 2 strike counts or to start a batter off with use you fastball and location, location, location.Good Luck
