I'm extremely sorry for your loss. My first period came exactly one month after my D&C, but the next one was 5 days late. This one is 8 days and counting. I'm very anxious because I'd like to start trying again. The amount of time it takes for your body to get back to normal varies with each woman. From what I was told by the doctor and through research of my own, I found that it can take a while for your period to get back to normal. My doctor told me to wait one full normal cycle before trying again just to make sure that my body had "figured out" what had happened and was back to normal.

My very unprofessional recommendation would be to use protection until your period has returned to normal. If your period doesn't return before March 17th, I would schedule an appointment with your doctor to make sure everything is okay. Best wishes, and again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

After my 2 miscarriage my doctor recommend to not have sex for at least 4 wks. I return and have my normal period after 4 wks.... The first 2 days was heavy bleeding than everything slows down. If you are planning to get pregnant again I suggested you wait at least 2-3 normal period before trying. my doctor recommend that to me, and I am not 14 wks pregnant. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

To start with since you had a miscarriage in the first place you should try to find out what caused it and give your body alittle time to heal and in the mean time start taking vitamins and plenty of folic acid. Get your body good and strong so you wont have to go thru another trauma like you just did. Your period should be back to normal. Since you are obviously trying to get pregnant again you should see your doctor and get everything checked out just to make sure everything is perfect. Having a miscarriage is hard on a woman physically and mentally and you dont want to have to go thru all that again. You want have your body nice and fit for you little one to develope in right. You figure when they do a D&C they are scraping the inside of your womb so it is a good idea to let it heal for at least a month or two if not three although it isnt nescessary but why take any chances. Start taking vitamins now especially the folic acid. And good luck and hopefully soon you will have a little one in your arms.

Six to eight weeks is what I've always been told, my miscarriages were 14 weeks, 16 weeks and one at 18 weeks. I'd really wait until I had a period, just to make sure your don't hemorrhage again, and then go for it. Good luck!
