Most that you'll see advertised are called passive jammers, and they don't work at all, I've even seen some tests where some even make it easier and quicker for the police radar to pick you up.
There are active jammers that do work. I don't know what kind of price you'd expect to pay for one though, but it'd be expensive I'm sure, and very hard to find since they're illegal to even sell.
Radar jammers are illegal, and it is a FEDERAL felony to own operate or sell a radar jamming device. Not just gonna get a ticket if you get caught with an active jammer.
Better to get a good detector and play it safe. I'd recommend a Bel RX65, or Bel Sti expect to pay about $300 for the RX65 or $450 for the Sti.

Radar jammers work by sending a radio frequency signal the same as they are sending out and modulating it with a tone that will indicate a particular speed on their radar. They cost several hundred dollars. They are illegal. The cops can get you for using it cause your interfering with police transmissions (go figure?)Unless you have a license to transmit on those frequencies and a good lawyer, i would not recommend it. Also, the new ligh wave signals are not effected by conventional jammers. There is nothing really proven to work. A good radar detector and not going too fast may be a better way of dealing with your "need for speed."

im just guessing that radar jammers are completely 100% illegal!
and they can still get you somehow by estimating your rate of speed.
dont try to outrun the cops, and if its 20mph over the speed limit its a big deal to insurance companies.

they are illegal, the police know when you have one turned on and they can still catch you,i heard a person( on scanner ) get pulled over three times in 20 miles even with a detector, each time they just followed him and he was paying so much attention to the detector he didn't see the cops

They are not legal but the cops won't hassle you if you use one -- they simply don't work. Car & Driver magazine has tested several brands more than once and found them all to be absolutely worthless.
