Alzheimer's is a disease that deteriorate the brain. What you are saying is that she is incontinent. Is that in both urinary and bowel movement? My guess is at some point it will become embrassing especially if you are traveling with her. If this behaviour is primarily because of her dementia which can easily be, compromise with her. Give her a few choices and tell her that her mother would not want her to wear these kind of clothing. These people are very hard to convince, do whatever you think is best for both of you and less stress.

I’m one of the writers for Gilbert Guide (the foremost resource for everything senior care). We have a new expert blogger on our site who deals with adult incontinence, and I’ve been doing quite a bit of research on how this issue affects people.
Is it humiliating to wear an adult brief? Well, different people see it differently. Some people find it demoralizing to be at a point in their lives when they can no longer control their bodily functions. Others accept it as a fact of life. Throw Alzheimer’s in the mix, and there really is any number of possible explanations.
As to why your mother is letting the adult brief show—I think a larger question is why she’s wearing low cut jeans and a half shirt. Do you live in a tropical climate? I by no means think older people can’t dress in clothes marketed to younger people, but I’m wondering what informs her choices in regards to wardrobe. Has she always dressed that way? If she has Alzheimer’s, she may be actually reliving a younger time in her life. She may be unaware she is wearing clothing that others may deem inappropriate. Or, she may be wearing those clothes because it’s comfortable for her and she doesn’t like the way it feels to have fabric on her stomach. Another possibility: she may be trying to dress as young as she feels, showing she is not her age.
IF the climate where you live is warm—and she’s not putting herself at risk in any way—than the issue is more yours than hers. If she wears that type of clothing in inappropriate situations and you’d like to change that, here’s what I suggest:
• Does your mother like dresses? This is a sure fire way to keep her body covered. Perhaps you could take her dress shopping and point out ones that look pretty on her. Avoid discussing your embarrassment as it may make her defensive.
• Compliment her often when she wears outfits you think are weather/occasion appropriate.
• Be an example. If you don’t want her to wear low rise jeans, don’t wear them around her (if you even wear them at all.)
Alzheimer’s is a confusing topic. If you need some additional information, visit the Alzheimer’s page of our blog at:

I hope this information helps. If there are any other questions I can answer for you, feel free to email me at info@GilbertGuide.com.

This question is truly....
forgettable.
I think the real question should be why would a 77 year old person be caught dead wearing low rise jeans? I don't think those plumber's crack pants look good on anyone.

No; I think life's too short to spend time being embarrassed by something.
