Use Goo-Gone ( a brand of sticky residue remover) It can be found in the hardware section where you'd find WD-40

Try Alcohol and water. Take 1cup of alcohol and 1 cup of water. with a sponge dab the residue until soaked. wait awhile and then do it again, this time get a plastic spatula or a old credit card, and start scraping. Make sure you dry the door and then polish it when done.

Eucalyptus Oil, Lavender Oil or Tea Tree Oil on a soft cloth will remove any sticky residue.
They're all great for removing sticky goo left on skin after removing ban-aid or sticking plaster, too.

Goo Gone is good, but also what works REALLY well and you might already have on hand is rubbing alcohol. This way you don't have to worry about residue either as rubbing alcohol dries so quickly.

depending on the type of glue, you might try 3 approaches. 1...vaseline..rub in and wipe off with paper towel. 2...finger nail polish remover...same process. 3...orange cleaner works on sticky stuff ..,whatever brand so long as it is an extract of orange peel. good luck
